Providing fresh food for a local community fridge
A group of people in the Growth Team wanted to donate fresh produce that they have grown to a local community fridge.
Supported by Senior Activity Facilitator, Mark Evenden, they looked for the right place to donate their fresh vegetables. After some deliberation they approached Hale Community Centre to organise a visit.
Joshua and Justin provided their community fridge and cupboard with a huge bag of lettuces that they have been growing in the polytunnel all winter and spring. This super fresh veg was appreciated by people looking for food for themselves and their families.
As well as making a difference to families across the area, donating the food they have grown also minimises the risk of food waste. Preventing food going to waste is one of the easiest and most powerful actions you can take to lower your climate change footprint.
