Health and Wellbeing online and in the community
During lockdown, Zain missed going out and seeing his friends in the community. He did not always have the motivation to join his timetabled activities on Zoom and would rather see people in person, which caused Zain to feel rather low. So, Surrey Choices colleagues and Zain came up with a way to try and help build his confidence and tackle his low mood.
Last month Zain joined Surrey Choices’ ‘Time to Rise’ course which is run by Shabnam Shah. The course focuses on emotional support and guidance. Zain has found these sessions very helpful, he now feels more motivated to attend sessions online and now lockdown has started to ease in the community as well.
Since the lockdown restrictions have been lifted and his participation in the ‘Time to Rise’ course Zain has been thriving. He has improved his ability to use technology safely and has better online friendships. He has returned to his job at Charity Aid two days per week, and has been given new responsibilities in the Warehouse. Zain is also travelling on the bus independently, to his voluntary job and to the gym with some of his friends.
Zain is now much happier and has really come out of his low mood and is growing each day.
