Accessing the Community with FlexiChoices
During the most recent lockdown George came to us through FlexiChoices. He was looking for support to access the community to learn life skills, build his confidence and improve his communication skills.
George was really keen to be able to access the community. He wanted to be able to go to a coffee shop and order his own lunch, so that he could work on his goals.
George has had weekend support by going on walks in his local community with Surrey Choices colleague Karen. He has been able to learn independent skills around choosing his lunch, and he has been working on his communication with people he has met in the community. This has given George an amazing confidence boost whilst giving his family respite support during the last lockdown.
Karen has been a great support to George and his family by offering a meaningful experience with positive outcomes to reach his personal goals. George’s mother said “Karen has played a vital support network for George during the Covid-19 pandemic, she has been a valuable resource of support, patients and kindness throughout his lockdown journey.”
George is now more comfortable out in the community, and is excited to spend time with Karen each week.
