Our Individual Spotlight is on Callie who is supported by our Shared Lives service. In her Spotlight, Callie opens up about what she has achieved with her Shared Lives Carers, her goals for the future, and much more. Read her interview below:
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Callie. I am an introverted, diffident and affable person. I enjoy going out with my Shared Lives Carer and gaming with my friends when I can. I am also a big dog lover.
How long have you been with your Shared Lives Carer?
I have been with them for about eight months now. Before I lived with my Carer, I lived with my mum, sister and two dogs.
What are your likes, interests and hobbies?
I enjoy gaming with my friends, singing, going out for lunch, seeing my family and friends, and spending time with my dogs.
What do you feel you have achieved, or are proud of since living with Shared Lives Carers?
I can honestly say I have done so much since I have moved in with my Carers. I am proud that I have lost two stone, I have gone out more into the community, I have taken public transport alone, I have been able to start my singing lessons and finally got a voluntary job at a charity shop.
What are your goals for the future?
I could answer unrealistically or realistically so instead I will do both. Unrealistically, I would like to earn money from streaming my games with friends but that is a long path with many obstacles in the way. Realistically, I would like to get a job at a charity shop and get paid for it.
