James is supported by our Vocational Projects programme. Read his interview below to find out what he is achieving with Surrey Choices and the impact it is having on his life.

What three words would your family and friends use to describe you?

Hard working, talkative and supportive.

How long have you been working with Surrey Choices?

I joined the Growth Team last summer. Since I joined the Growth Team I have noticed that my confidence has improved which has helped my independence. My communication and ability to speak up for myself has also improved.

What is something new you have tried this year?

Since joining the Growth Team I have learnt how to use some machinery such as strimmers and leaf blowers for the first time. I am really proud that I have learnt to use these safely and effectively. I am hoping to learn more about using the machines over the next few months, especially how to use a hedge-cutter.

What do you like doing in your free time?

When I am not gardening I like to keep fit and active. In particular I enjoy swimming and going to the gym.
