Our Individual Spotlight is on Roger who is supported by our Community Choices service. In his Spotlight, Roger opens up about what he is proud of, working on the Multiply Project, and what he likes doing in his free time. Read his interview below:
How long have you been with Surrey Choices and what goals did you have when you started?
Since 2015. I wanted to learn how to swim and enjoyed going to the Woodmansterne Hub.
What is something you have achieved that you are proud of?
I am proud that I am now attending community sessions on a Wednesday with staff Wendy and Sharon. I am also proud that I have improved my numeracy skills which has helped me with my counting and money.
You are part of the Multiply Project, what is it?
Multiply is helping me and my friends with their maths and numeracy skills.
How are the skills you are learning in the Multiply Project helping you in everyday life?
I am paying for things myself when I go out. I feel more confident that I will give the right money, and if needed, I will know I am getting the right change back.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy gardening and reading.
What 3 words would your family and friends use to describe you?
Polite, kind, interesting.
If you could have dinner with any celebrity who would it be and why?
John Spaihts as I really enjoy reading his books and the TV programmes he has written.
