Individual Spotlight: Marc
Over the past year, we have helped 900 people with autism or a learning, physical or sensory disability to find work placements through our Surrey Choices EmployAbility service.
The success of the service was celebrated recently at our Making a Difference awards where we highlighted what a difference being within a work environment can make to our customers lives. However, it’s not just our customers who have seen the advantages – some of the biggest employers in the country have benefitted from adding hard working, enthusiastic and skilled individuals to their teams.
Sodexo have several of our customers in paid positions in differing locations. Their natural starting point is always to look to see what can this person achieve, what is this person’s natural abilities and how do we best use this in the workplace. Sodexo have shown they adapt to any individuals needs and even to change work tasks completely should the need arise to support valued members of the team. Lucy has come a long way since she joined Sodexo, she’s now a Catering Assistant. Her role includes assisting in the staff café and her favourite thing to do is to clear tables.
Sodexo is the only company to integrate a complete offer of innovative services, based on over 100 professions. Services include construction management, reception and food services through to asset maintenance, security and grounds maintenance for clients in offices, schools, prisons, hospitals, military bases, remote sites and hospitality events. Sodexo do not employ disabled people, they employ staff members who happen to have a disability.
