Luke gains paid employment

Luke is a really valued member of The Growth Team. He has an excellent work ethic and pays attention to detail which is very important in the horticulture industry.

His goal has been to find paid employment, where he can use his horticultural skills to maintain and improve green spaces.

The Growth Team has facilitated Luke to learn and develop many skills. Recently, Luke has been encouraged to develop his social skills in a professional setting by leading on projects the Growth Team are working on. He speaks to the rest of the team about what needs doing and assigns tasks to individuals, helping them along the way.

An opportunity arose for Luke to trial working at a large housing estate for the Estate Manager, looking after the grounds. This went successfully and Luke was offered the paid role. Luke’s job involves some exciting tasks such as driving the quad bike with a trailer, which he really enjoys.

Luke’s self-esteem and confidence has hugely increased, which has been noticed at home and by his peers.

 

Speaking to his new Estate Manager, he exclaimed “Luke is a pleasure to work with and I can genuinely tell that he cares about what he is doing and pleasing people.”
