Rhythmic Collision takes gold at the Surrey Heath Sport Awards
Rhythmic Collision won the Community Project/Champion award at the Surrey Heath Sports Awards for their promotion of physical activity to Surrey Heath residents, and wider Surrey.
The awards celebrate the achievements of local coaches, volunteers, athletes, and community groups, who have gone above and beyond in their performances, dedication and commitment to sport and physical activity.
The message that sports and physical activity is for everybody is particularly important, and the Surrey Heath Sports Council felt that Rhythmic Collision embodied that and therefore deserved to be shortlisted and in with a chance of winning the Community Project/Champion award.
The show opened with a flawless routine from Rhythmic Collision which displayed their work. After a standing ovation, the awards got underway. Surrey Choices colleagues Helen-Louise and Suzy were delighted for the people we support after they were announced winners in their category.
Members of the Rhythmic Collision dance company said:
Debbie – “It was really good and I was surprised we won the award. I felt proud and confident performing on the stage
Roy – “I feel really happy I got the award. I feel happy and confident dancing. wow.”Joanne – “Thumbs up, I like getting the award. I really liked the lighting for our dance on the stage.”
“The work of Surrey Social Care is not something easily projected into the mind of the general public, much less promoted or advertised. But here they were, front and centre doing just that, to great effect. A fantastic tribute to themselves, Helen-Louise, and Suzy for coaching them and indeed Surrey Choices for making it happen.”
The award highlights the great work Rhythmic Collision have been doing in the community. The group will continue to pioneer physical activity across the county.
