Royal Representation
Last week Donna Willson, Shared Lives Manager, represented Surrey Choices at the first Royal Garden Parties of King Charles III’s reign.
Donna shared:
“The event was attended by people from many different backgrounds and roles that serve their communities, such as charity workers, emergency services, armed forces, and diplomats. The gates to the palace were opened and we were guided through the courtyards and into the beautiful gardens, which included two stunning lakes. The King’s Royal Guards were present and brass bands were playing. There was a splendid buffet served and of course many cups of tea, followed by ice cream on the lawn. At 4.00pm the Royal Family arrived, and the national anthem was played by the brass bands. We were extremely lucky to be able to get very close to the Prince and Princess of Wales, Kate and William, who both took lots of time to meet and greet their guests, before entering the Royal Tea Tent for more refreshments. I had the most wonderful day and felt extremely privileged to be part of the celebrations.”
Kudlip, Shared Lives Carers, and Shannon who lives with her were also invited to the event by Shared Lives Plus.
Shannon said
“I really enjoyed the Royal Tea Party as it was a brilliant experience for meet the Royals and go to the palace.” Kuldip said “We both would like to thank everyone at Shared Lives for this opportunity.”
