Stepping back in time at The Rural Life Museum
People we support in West Community Choices were excited to visit The Rural Life Living Museum, an open-air museum of country life and farming. They were keen to learn about working on a farm, how the things that we eat and drink come from the farm, get to the supermarkets and then to our homes.
Whilst there, they had the opportunity to take a ride on a vintage steam train. They learnt how the trains would operate and bring produce from the farm to the shops. It really stimulated people’s memories and curiosity with one customer, Gena, telling people of the previous jobs that she had and explaining to the others how a lathe works.
Everyone had a really enjoyable time. Richard told us:
“It is really good here. I loved the train ride and seeing how things were used. There was so much I had not seen before, and now I know how things work.”
