The Growth Team collaborates with the NHS to celebrate the NHS 75TH Anniversary
Surrey Choices’ Growth Team recently partnered with St. Peter’s Hospital to renovate planters at the main entrance of the hospital and refresh the Emergency Department garden, which was also in need of rejuvenation. Following careful consideration and collaboration, the team devised a unique design for the garden and cleared the area to start afresh. They also constructed bespoke planters using recycled pallets, providing the Emergency Department with personalised planters that fulfilled their specific requirements. Susan Punter, a representative from St. Peter’s Emergency Department, expressed her delight with the team’s work and expressed hopes of further collaboration, with plans to acquire paint, compost, and plants for their next visit. The initiative was a great opportunity for Surrey Choices to support the local community while highlighting the significant impact that disabled people can have within healthcare environments.
In a separate collaboration, three members of the Surrey Choices Growth Team, Oliver, Colin, and Luke, were interviewed by NHS Staff to gain insights into the experiences of people with learning difficulties attending medical appointments. Impressed by their contributions, the NHS filmed some interviews with them to be used in training sessions to help NHS staff understand how to improve the quality of care provided to people with learning difficulties in healthcare settings.
