A Burning Question
Colleagues at Nexus, one of our Community Hubs in the North of Surrey recently arranged a visit from the local Fire and Rescue service. The aim of the visit was to come and do a health and safety presentation to help ensure everyone could stay safe while at home and out in the community.
The speaker, Claire, shared information about keeping safe and issued free equipment including fire resistant blankets and emergency pot packs in case of an incident.
While at the talk, one person asked what to do if they did not have a smoke alarm, sharing that at home they did not have one installed. With support from colleagues, they were able to speak to Claire about arranging a visit to get one installed.
By colleagues opening the door to a conversation with Fire and Rescue Services, this person was able to get a potentially life saving bit of kit and feel safer at home.
