Toby joined the Employment Works for Autism programme. He wanted some support in gaining a paid job. His goal was to secure paid part time employment which would compliment his volunteering roles. He felt this would also provide him with a more structured working week.
Since joining the programme, he has increased his knowledge of job searching and independent thinking about employment options. His communication skills have also improved through face-to-face and telephone conversations on a regular basis.
Toby has secured a part time job with a Catering Agency based in Guildford. He works roughly 20 hours per week as a kitchen porter, working in various schools within Surrey. His responsibilities include washing pots and pans, keeping floors clean, sanitising food preparation areas under current health and safety procedures. He is keen to continue to look for other more career-based work focusing on his future development moving forward.
In addition to paid word, Toby also volunteers at the Mole Valley Skills hub in Leatherhead as well as a Youth Organisation, teaching young people with learning disabilities life skills including collaboration and critical thinking techniques. Toby is excelling in his volunteering and paid work and we are very excited to see what the future holds for him.
