Our First Ready Steady Cook Event: A Recipe for Community Engagement
This month we co-hosted our first Ready Steady Cook event in collaboration with Include.org and The Pro-Active Community It was a celebration of healthy eating, creativity in the kitchen, and fostering community connections.
The atmosphere in the kitchen was electric, with a flurry of activity as red apples and green pears went head-to-head in a culinary showdown. It wasn’t just about cooking; it was about promoting awareness around healthy eating and making informed ingredient choices
None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our partners. A huge shoutout to Loveworks – Reigate Charity for their generous donations of food, which provided the foundation for our delicious dishes. Additionally, our heartfelt thanks go to Voluntary Action Reigate & Banstead for their grant, which helped make this event a reality.
We were honored to have the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, Councillor Eddy Humphreys, grace our event with his presence. His genuine interest and engagement added an extra layer of significance to the day.
As the competition unfolded, it was a nail-biting race to the finish line, with the green pears ultimately emerging victorious over their red apple counterparts. But beyond the friendly rivalry, what truly mattered was the sense of partnership and inclusivity that surrounded the event.
