Recycling work recognised by the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead

Afternoon Tea with the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead

Some of the volunteers from Furnistore in Redhill visited the Town Hall for afternoon tea. Hosted by the Mayor, Jill Bray, they were being recognised for their amazing work recycling furniture and household goods in support of the community.

Tom, who is on our Supported Internship programme volunteers on Reception at Furnistore and was kindly invited along. Tom described the Mayor as ‘very bubbly with an informal approach’. She was great at putting everyone at ease whilst she enquired about their respective roles at Furnistore and the contributions that they each deliver.

She shared her own journey to becoming Mayor and arranged a tour of the council chambers for the group. Tom described the building as looking like a ‘posh boarding school’ and very much enjoyed being given the opportunity to visit. As a keen baker, Tom also appreciated the homemade cakes that were served to them all during their visit!
