A member of staff braved the shave to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Surrey Choices staff and customers from across the county got into the fundraising spirit, and held coffee mornings at seven of its centres.
David Richardson, a support worker at Cranstock Hub, decided to take his fundraising efforts one step further, and took part in Macmillan’s ‘Brave the Shave’.
This year more than 20,000 people have shaved their head for Macmillan’s ‘Brave the Shave’, raising over £4,000,000 for the charity.
The coffee mornings all took place on Friday 30 September, and invited customers, carers, parents and staff to come together and enjoy lots of cake, whilst raising money for a worthwhile cause.
As a result of the coffee mornings and David’s head shave, Surrey Choices raised over of £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Speaking of why he decided to ‘Brave the Shave’, David said: “I am thrilled to have raised over £100 towards the fundraising grand total, as it is such a fantastic cause. Macmillan has supported my family on numerous occasions, and it is great to be able to give something back. However, my head is now very cold!”
